In the MMA fight world you must always be at the top of your game. Just ask UFC Fighter Randy Couture. He had a chance to sit down with CagedInsider.com this past week where he explained that he knows that he must always be on his game. With a rigorous workout of 5 times a week, no wonder more people do not come into the MMA arena. “The problem is not everyone has the born, natural talent. I could work out six times a week and grow at half the pace of Brock Lesnar. Not that I would try, but the point is you must have more than just a muscular body to compete in this sport. Endurance is important, but you must also have a good ground game, a good stand-up and I feel most importantly a good grappling base to dictate the fight.”

Couture is not the first MMA fighter to show such UFC results after a rigorous workout regiment. former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans also showed why he made it where he is today, becoming the top contender once again. “I do what I have to do to get by in the game. I work out six times a week sometimes. Not everyone can keep that pace but I was blessed with some really great genetics, mixed with a real strong will to strive, and persevere. My family has also been a huge asset in my MMA career. Not just my blood either, but Jackson’s camp looks out for my well being and knows what will push me and what will hurt me. I dont know where I would be without that camp. I just know this is where I’m staying and though its hard on my family, they understand that I got to be out in New Mexico putting in work to put food on the table,” said Evans.

With so many fighters pushing the bar higher constantly, it is no wonder that some fighters have turned to performance enhancing drugs for faster recovery and faster results. Even though there is a good chance of getting caught, some are willing to take the chance to advance there career. Interestingly mma notables have came out and said there is steroid use in the MMA realm but it is not as prevalent as say Baseball or Football. The numbers of caught MMA fighters is much lower than other sports out there but it is not a fair comparison really. Either way it will change a UFC predictions in the blink of an eye as any fighter that fails a post fight test will be stripped of a win and that goes for the betting lines as well. At least the legal ones.
